in 2007, i fell down my front steps on my way to the car to go to memorial. i was scraped and bleeding all over, ruined my dress, and i was 6months pregnant. instead of going to the er, i changed my clothes and wrapped gauze on my injuries and made it to the hall just as the meeting was starting. i was still crying from the pain but my butt was in my seat. Too sick or injured but still made it to the meeting!
by RULES & REGULATIONS ini once attended a two day special assembly with my gums bleeding after having 4 widom teeth pulled the day before.
i managed the two days by rinsing out my mouth all day long and placing cotton in my mouth.. one brother had back surgery the week before but attended a two day assembly by laying on a matress in the back of the assembly hall.
why he needed to be there i'll never understand!.

If ARMAGEDDON Came, Would YOU Repent?
by Cold Steel inthe day finally comes.
you get up one day with the nagging feeling that it's going to be different.
you get dressed, get in the car, then notice how dark the weather's getting.

Flood insurance and cover for overland flooding
by Simon inwith the huge floods in alberta the news now is starting to cover the issue of property damange and insurance.. we've never really thought a lot about insurance cover for flooding because it became a big issue in the uk about 5-10 years ago with limited land availability leading to building on flood plains and the eventual inevitable consequences and so when we bought over here we didn't buy anywhere that was a possible flood risk.
our choice seems to have worked out as we've been completely untouched by the recent issues but tragically, others have been less fortunate and apparently few people are covered for 'overland flooding' which is where water enters your house through doors and windows.. it's hard to really know what is fair.
i understand the reason why insurers don't cover it and the arguments on both sides.. one one hand, we included the flood risk when puchasing a home.

The problem with flood insurance in the United States is that far too many people think "my house will never be affected" and they don't sign up for coverage. Our house is in an area that has literally zero chance of having surface flooding - we are on top of a hill and there are no waterways near our house. However, the house across the street from us (on the downhill side) had its basement flooded 7 feet deep a few years ago. But, if it were to rain enough and the ground were to become totally saturated and our basement walls caved in, regular insurance wouldn't cover the damage. If we didn't have a basement, flood insurance would be pointless for our house. We pay $400 per year for enough coverage to totally rebuild our house and replace all our stuff.

7 graphs that prove America is overrated
by Simon inbefore the usual suspects start reaching for the pich-forks and forming a mob, i invite you to actually read and consider this, not just leap to conclusions.. http://www.globalpost.com/dispatch/news/regions/americas/united-states/130607/7-graphs-america-overrated-nsa-prism-privacy.
why do i care?
it seems the people being screwed the most are also the most visciferous defenders of the status quo which sees them being severely disadvantaged.. maternity leave?

willingness to work hard is *not* a guarantee that a person will achieve financial prosperity. I have seen many people who are more than willing to work hard, but continue to live on the edge of poverty due to other bad choices. One young man, not yet 30 years old, has 7 children to support. He has no high school diploma and no special job skills. He has a learning disability and can barely read, but he'll bust his butt 14 hours a day without complaint. I doubt he'll ever achieve even a middle class lifestyle.
On the other hand, I am far lazier and less inclined to "work hard" than that young man. However, I did well in school (natural ability rather than hard work), went to college, and had the foresight to get a degree in a field that was easy (for me - natural ability not effort) and well paying. I work just 7.5 hours a day, get 50 paid days off per year, plus weekends, limited travel and very limited overtime. I earn substantially more than the average or median salary for where I live.
In the end, America is like Las Vegas - it's fantastic if you are lucky and crappy if you are not. You can win big, but you can also go bust and there's no safety net until you're at rock bottom.

I was too lazy to burn our old literature, I just chucked it in the regular trash over the course of a few weeks. There was too much to dump all at once, since we have a 200 pound weight limit on our garbage cans.

I too suffer from BRF. I have a chronic nasty frown due to being half blind and wrinkling my face up trying to see. I always look really angry.
